CRAZY FESTIVALS

La Tomatin
La Tomatina is a festival in Buñol, Spain. It’s a one-day festival and is held in August.
It started in 1945 and slowly became
popular.
Now each year about 20,000 people from around the
world go to Buñol to participate in the event.
During the festival
people gather in some streets. Then trucks full of tomatoes arrive.
People start a fight with the tomatoes by throwing them
at each other.
Soon the street is full of tomatoes and people
covered in tomato juice! The fight usually lasts for an hour.
After
the fight, fire engines clean up the streets and people wash themselves. The event was free until 2013,
but now you have to
buy tickets to the event.

Burning Man
This annual event was started in 1986 by Larry Harvey and Jerry James.
Every year at this event artists gather to make effigies
(statues of humans) and burn them in the end.
It happens in the
Black Rock Desert in the Western United States.
It starts on 26th
August and ends on 3rd September. Each year about 65,000 people attend the event!
The event has strict rules. Everyone
can attend the event, the people at the event give gifts to each other,
there are no sponsors, people should work together, and
people should clean up everything after the event.
This event is
mentioned as one of the craziest and most exciting events. Just check out the videos on YouTube!
