David Beckham

David Beckham

Football has always been the biggest thing in David’s life. He and his dad used to play for hours when he was a kid. He was always kicking a ball around so he wasn’t very good at school. He left school when he was 16 and went to play for Manchester United’s junior team. Two years later when he was 18, he played his first professional game for Manchester United.

By 1996 David was one of the most popular players in England. In 2002, David helped get England to the quarter-finals of the World Cup in South Korea and Japan. Unfortunately, David and his team lost to Brazil that year.

In 2003, David moved to Real Madrid in Spain for $40 million. But he had many injuries so he decided that he needed a change. In 2007, David took his football skill to America and signed a huge five-year $250-million contract to play for the LA Galaxy. However, he still had his injuries and missed lots of matches.

In 2013, David announced his retirement from football.
