Dear Christine
Dear Christine,
I would like to invite you to my wedding on March 5th. It’s going to be a traditional Indian wedding. Have you ever been to an Indian wedding before? They are great.
At Indian weddings, a traditional dress called ‘sari’ is worn. Wedding saris are usually red. You can wear something colourful like pink, yellow or purple. The wedding lasts for three days. On the first day, girls have a henna party. Different designs are drawn on women’s hands. This is considered the bride’s final night with her family and friends. On the second day, all the guests are invited to a big party. The families of the bride and groom meet. Delicious foods and drinks are served. Traditional Indian dance is performed. On the third day of the wedding, the main ceremony is done. The groom is carried to the ceremony on a white horse. The horse is decorated with flowers and colourful fabrics. The bride and the groom give each other flowers and they walk around a fire. While walking, special prayers are repeated. Finally, they get married. When a girl is married, red paint is put on her forehead. The red mark means that now she is a married woman.
I look forward to seeing you at my wedding. Please, let me know if you are coming or not.
Take care,
Mala
