Dear Kate,

How are you? I’m writing to tell you that next week I’m going to London to visit my grandparents. It’s Grandpa’s birthday! He’ll be seventy-five!

We’re going to go to the shopping centre on Oxford Street on Saturday morning. You know I don’t like shopping very much, but I want to get Grandpa a nice present. I’m going to buy him a grey scarf and gloves. I hope he likes them. I’m going to go to a bookshop too because I’ve seen a new book that Grandpa wants to read. He loves reading.

On Saturday evening, we’re going to have a party for Grandpa. He doesn’t know about it. We’ve invited all his friends and all the family. The party is going to take place near a river, which is grandpa’s favourite place. Grandma’s going to make a huge birthday cake. It’ll be a huge chocolate cake. We’re also going to buy lots of nice things to eat. I can’t wait! We’re going to have a great time.
