DID YOU HAVE A HAPPY CHILDHOOD

DID YOU HAVE A HAPPY CHILDHOOD

Oliver

I think I did. I have a huge family, and every year we get together and have fun. In the past, we used to live close to each other, so we used to have more parties – sometimes every month. Imagine the whole family getting together in a garden. Our parents used to talk about their lives and we played all day long. Every child used to bring his or her toy, so there was always something to play with. We used to fight too, but we quickly made up. My dad used to say “Cousins can fight but can’t live without each other.”

I had an OK childhood. I was eight years old when my brother was born, so I was the only child for most of my childhood. We didn’t use to live in a busy neighbourhood with lots of kids, so I usually played alone in our garden. I found most of my friends at school, but we didn’t use to invite each other over. My parents’ families were in the UK, so we used to see them only once or twice each year. Also, I wasn’t unhappy with my situation. I was kind of happy with being alone most of the time.
