DIFFERENT JOBS 4
Angelina: I have my own computer company here in Chicago, USA. I help people with their computer problems such as setting up anti-virus programmes, upgrading software, etc. for 50 dollars each time. I generally go to my clients’ homes. They’re often surprised when I tell them I’m only sixteen! I love computers, so I enjoy the work. I work about twenty hours a week on average. I think my career after I graduate will be something to do with computers. I’m not going to go to university. Steve Jobs didn’t finish his degree and he started one of the biggest computer companies in the world.
Spencer: I’m working part-time in a riding school. I look after the horses and clean the stables. My schedule is not very intense. I work two hours of every weekday, and on Saturday I work eight hours. I’d like to work on Sundays too, but I can’t because I’m only fifteen- that’s the law in Canada. I am in love with horses and I enjoy working with them a lot. So, I think this is going to be my future career when I leave school. One day, I’m going to have my own riding school. That’s my goal, anyway!
Zoe: I’m eighteen and I work part-time at a swimming pool. Before I started, I had to get a special qualification for the job. The exam for it was hard, but I learned some life-saving skills, like first aid. Next year, I’m going to go to university, but I’m planning to continue this job just to make money during the holidays. There are lots of swimming pools and beaches here in Spain so it’s easy to find a job, but I don’t think of it as a career.
