The Ima Keithel market in Manipur, India is the only market in the world that is run only by women. The Ima Keithel, or ‘mother’s market’, is over one hundred years old. More than three thousand women gather there to sell fresh vegetables, fish, grain, handmade products and other household items. The women who sell their products come from many different communities and have different religions. The Ima Keithel is also an interesting historical site for visitors to see.
