Iguanodon was the first dinosaur identified by scientists more than 180 years ago. It lived in Europe. It was 12 metres tall. It was very heavy. It was a herbivore. People that worked in a British forest found its fossil teeth.
It had strong legs. On its legs, it had three short toes. Its hands had four strong fingers, and it had a spike on its thumb. It had teeth like an iguana. It had a strong tail. Its tongue was long like a giraffe’s, so it was easy to pick the leaves on the tall trees. It lived in the forest. It didn’t have any scales or feathers.
Stegosaurus lived in North America. It had armour, which means its body was covered with very thick skin. It had a big tail and it held it in the air. It had many spikes on its back. It had a short neck and a small head. It had a big body but a small brain. It ate the plants on the ground. It was about eight or nine metres tall and about 2,000 kilograms.
