Disability sports
Disability sports, or parasports, are sports played by people with a disability, including physical and intellectual disabilities. They are sometimes called adaptive sports. The rules of these sports are different than the other sports and designed to meet the needs of people with a disability. Generally, these sports have three groups: the deaf, people with physical disabilities, and people with intellectual disabilities. Each group has a different history, organization, competition program and approach to sport. While sport is important in everyone’s life, it is even more important in the life of a person with a disability. This is because sport helps rehabilitate the physical body and also helps rehabilitate disabled people into society. It also provides more independence. Wheelchair basketball, wheelchair dancing, weightlifting swimming are examples of sports you can join if you are mentally or physically disabled. You can also take part in the Paralympic Games.
