Diwali is an important Indian festival. It’s also known as the Festival of Lights. People in India and Nepal celebrate Diwali to mark the end of the Hindu calendar year. Diwali is a national holiday in India and Nepal. People celebrate the festival for five days. During Diwali, people light lamps and pray for good health and peace. They clean their homes and decorate their doorways with pictures made of painted rice, called rangoli. Children light fireworks and adults buy new clothes and give gifts of sweets to their family and friends. The fourth day of Diwali is the beginning of the New Year. Therefore, it is the most important day of the festival.

Larmer Tree is a festival in Wiltshire and people started celebrating it 25 years ago. It’s a festival for kids and teenagers. People celebrate this festival in July for three days. There are many fun activities for kids in the festival area. They can make clay, paint pictures and faces, decorate dolls, eat candy, run races and have fun in the circus with acrobats. Many families from different parts of the country go to Larmer Tree Festival with their kids and they wear colourful clothes. They also wear hats because the fair is outside and it’s always sunny and hot.
