1) Ostriches can run faster than horses and male ostriches can roar like lions.
2) Bats are the only mammals that can fly. Humans are mammals too, but humans can’t fly.
3) Fleas can jump up to 200 times their height. This is equal to a man jumping as high as the Empire State Building in New York.
4) A cat has 32 muscles in each ear, so they can hear very well!
5) Elephants can smell water up to 19 kilometres away. They smell water and go there to drink it and wash in it.
6) Butterflies have two eyes with thousands of lenses, but they can only see the colours red, green and yellow.
7) Hummingbirds are the only birds that can fly backwards, and their wings can beat at up to 80 times per second.
8) Honeybees can taste with their feet. They go near a flower, touch it with their feet and taste it. If they like it, they take the nectar out of the flower and make honey.
9) Horned lizards can squirt blood out of their eyes to defend themselves. When they see an enemy, they spray blood and the enemy runs away.
10) Butterflies lay eggs on the leaves of trees and plants. The eggs are sticky, so they don’t fall off. They can make more than one thousand eggs in only a few weeks!
