Driving Ambition

Driving Ambition

1) When I was a kid my dad raced cars and I grew up watching him. I loved the atmosphere and the crowd watching the race. When I was nine years old, I competed in karts. Then I started driving rally cars. This year I’m going to join Formula 3.

2) More than you think. Britain is a world centre for motor racing. In the UK there are 750 clubs and 100,000 competitors

3) Not really. Actually there are a lot of women competitors, but we don’t see them very often as we see men competitors. The reason is there aren’t a lot of women in Formula 1.

4) In the past many women weren’t interested in. And journalists, sponsors and some drivers didn’t support us. They have changed their idea about women drivers and say that it’s good to have more women in this sport. I think the situation will be better in the future.

5) Yes, of course. There will be a woman champion one day. I’m sure!

6) Not at all. Racing is a difficult sport. You must be a good driver. This is an expensive sport, so you need to have a lot of money. I was lucky last year because my sponsors were generous, but this year they aren’t going to give me much money because of economic crisis. I hope I will be OK.

7) I’m not going to stop racing. My manager is my dad and he is going to contact more sponsors to find the necessary money. I’m lucky, because I know that my family will always support me. They stand by me whenever I need their support.
