Emma’s Birthday

Emma’s Birthday

Hi. I’m Tony. Today is my younger sister Emma’s birthday. We want to have a surprise birthday party for her. Our cousins Joe and Jane, Uncle Bob, Aunty Susan and grandparents Tom and Laura are here at our home now. Everyone is wearing a costume now. My cousin Joe is wearing a clown costume and Jane is wearing a princess costume. I think Joe’s costume is better than hers. Uncle Bob is in a cowboy and Aunty Susan is in a pirate costume. They both look funny. My grandparents look like little kids in their costumes. I think their costumes are better than all. Emma isn’t at home now. She’s a student. She always comes home at 5 o’clock. Now it’s 4 o’clock. I think she is on the bus home. We have an hour to make everything ready. My parents are preparing food, Joe and Jane are decorating the room, Bob and Susan are setting the table and my grandparents are waiting on the balcony. When they see her walking down the street, they can tell us.

(an hour later)

It’s five o’clock. I can hear my grandparents saying “There she comes. Everyone get ready”. We’re waiting in the dark to surprise her and sing Happy Birthday song…
