Everyday Math

At the school I don’t really like my math class, but we use math every day. We count different things like our money or our books. When we go to the market, we use addition.  My mum tells me to buy ten eggs. I count the eggs and put them in the bag. She tells me to buy ten fruits, so I buy five apples and five pears. Five plus five equals ten. I want to buy a box of ice-cream, but I don’t have five liras. I have only two liras.  When I come home my dad gives me 20 liras because I help my mum shopping. Wow! That’s great. Now I can buy anything I want from the store!
