Family Gathering
Reporter: Hi! Today we’re in Hunters Hill, a neighbourhood in Sydney, Australia. Every year something special happens here. Families invite all their relatives, and they get together for a weekend. People of all ages, from little children to senior citizens gather here to spend two days together. They chat, play and sometimes reconcile relatives who don’t talk to each other. I’m with Barron, one of the residents. Hi Barron! Tell us what you’re doing today.
Barron: Well, today’s the first day, and we already have got fifteen of our relatives here. I’m really happy to see and talk to them. The kids are playing, the men are barbecuing, and the women are talking about their families. The atmosphere here is great. This time, we’re going to the lake this Sunday to enjoy another day there.
Reporter: Thank you, Barron. Here we have Natalie, another resident of Hunters Hill. Tell us about your family gathering, Natalie.
Natalie: Oh, our gathering is huge this year. Both of my daughters got married in the spring, so we have two more big families in our gathering this year! I love the atmosphere because everybody is meeting new people and talking to each other. There are lots of young people this year, and they want to party, talk and know each other. You never know, maybe some of them are meeting their future husbands and wives here!
