Oprah Winfrey is an American women with a big heart and a strong message for our generation. She is extremely wealthy , and she is best known for her TV talk show, film appearences and charity work. Despite her current annual income of around 3.6 billion dollars, her start in life was poor and very difficult. She was born on 29th January 1954 in Mississippi and her early family life was very troubled. Her grandmother was a strong memory for Oprah and she can still remember her teaching her to read at the age of three. Education has always given Oprah energy in her life, and in 1971 she went to the Tennesee State University. It is here that she began to work for local radio and TV.

In 1984, after working on several small TV networks, she got her own TV show, which ran until 2011. It was on 120 channels and had a regular audience of 10 million viewers. This programme had an annual income of 125 million dollars and Oprah personally took 30 million dollars each year. In 1985 she became a film star after appearing in Steven Spielberg’s film The Colour Purple . She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her work. After The Oprah Show , finished she stopped being a chat show host and she opened her own TV network in 2014. She is also a very good writer and has sold many best selling books and magazines.

It might be said that she is best known for her charity work. As of January 1, 2018, Oprah is worth over 4 billion dollars, and is the first black women billionaire in the world. She could keep it all, but she doesn’t. People say she is the most warm hearted and powerful women of our time. Last year, she gave away over 50 million dollars to various charities and she has built several schools in South Africa to help girls get a good education, just as she did. She is an enthusiastic campaigner for Children’s Rights and a strong role model for all girl’s around the world.
