RIO DE JANEIRO FESTIVAL: Brazil is famous for its festivals. Every year in February or in March many people visit Rio de Janeiro to see this carnival. You can see many people wearing costumes and masks. Samba dancers dance in the parade and people have great fun. The city looks very colourful. It usually starts on Fridays and ends on Tuesdays. This colourful festival is full of happiness and fun. You can never see costumes like those in any other carnival. Every day about 2 million people come to the parade. They eat, drink and dance all day.

LA TOMATINA FESTIVAL: The Tomato festival happens in Spain every year in August. It is a different festival from the other ones. It is a food fight festival. For this festival, there are no costumes, but only tomatoes, 120 tons of tomatoes. Only 20.000 people can join in this fight. It starts at 11 o’clock in the morning and ends at 12 o’clock. Just for an hour people only throw tomatoes at each other, get dirty and have great fun.

MARDI GRAS FESTIVAL: It is a popular festival. People celebrate it in many countries like Brazil, Venice and New Orleans. Mardi Gras is the celebration of Spring. Mardi is a French word and it means Tuesday. Gras means fat. So, it means “FAT TUESDAY FESTIVAL”. People don’t eat meat, fish and cheese for 40 days. That’s why they celebrate it before by eating, dancing and parading. People wear colourful costumes and dance all day. This festival lasts 7 days.
