Figure Skating and Evgeni Plushenko
The Olympic Games are a set of international sports competitions. The committee holds Olympics once every four years in a different city across the world. Figure skating is one Olympic sport. Figure skaters use boots. These boots have thin piece of metal under them so they can skate on the ice. Figure skating is a difficult sport because skaters have to jump on the ice. It is also a dangerous sport because they can fall and break their legs or arms. There are many talented ice skaters. One of them is Evgeni Plushenko.
Evgeni Plushenko was born on 3rd November, 1982 in Russia. He is married and he has got two sons. He began ice-skating at the age of 4. He won his first competition when he was 7 years old. He practised at the Volgograd ice rink, but they closed the ice rink when he was 11 years old. He went to St. Petersburg. St. Petersburg is a famous city in Russia. He practiced there. Plushenko won the World Junior Figure Ice-skating Championship in 1997. So far, he has won 3 World Championships, 5 European Championships, 4 Grand Prix Finals and 7 Russian Championships.
