Food Chains
Food chains show how energy moves. When something eats something else, energy moves. We need energy to play and learn. How do plants and animals get their energy?
All food chains start with the sun. The sun feeds plants. Plants make their own food using sunlight, water and soil. Herbivores are animals that eat plants. They get their energy from plants. Herbivores are animals like cows, grasshoppers and elephants.
There is another type of animal that is important for food chains: carnivores. These are animals that eat other animals. They get their energy from the meat that they eat. Carnivores are animals like tigers, owls, sharks, and dragonflies.
The last type is the omnivores. Omnivores are animals that eat other animals as well as plants. Omnivores are animals like bears and monkeys.
