FUTURE OF SHOPPING CENTRES
High-end, futuristic shopping centres are emerging in many countries with the hope of attracting more customers. Shoppers’ tastes are changing and customers expect to have more fun. To give customers a reason to visit retailers in person, centres are creating new, futuristic features and events. Touch-screen platforms that provide customer information can be a good example and are becoming an increasingly common and interactive feature.
In some shopping centres, face recognition technology is used to collect and analyse customers’ past purchases. In the US, Ralph Lauren is testing interactive mirrors in fitting rooms that allow shoppers to change the lighting, request different sizes, browse through other items, or interact with a sales associate.
They are also creating various apps which provide promotions, in-store and parking navigation, free Wi-Fi and restaurant booking services.
