GENERATION Z and Y

GENERATION Z and Y

Just as kids who were born between 1980 and 1995 are called the Generation Y –
a.k.a Millennials - those who were
born after 1995 are called Generation Z.
You may initially
consider members of the Generation Z, which is called the Post-Millennials,
as an extension of the Millennials.
However, Generation Z has a number of differences from the Millennials in addition to the similarities they have.
First of all, members of the Generation Z are true digital natives; which means they were born into,
and grown
up with technology whereas the Millennials are digital immigrants,
which means they accepted and engaged
with technology at a later point in their lives.
Secondly; as
they use the Internet, Millennials prefer to watch works created by other people,
or professionals on YouTube,
Hulu or Netflix; but members of the Generation Z
prefer to co-create and participate the activity. They want to be a part of a community rather than a lonely consumer; therefore they choose to live-stream on Twitch.
Another factor that makes the Generation Z
different from Millennials is that Generation Z lives in a time of continuous updates from various social media applications.
Therefore; they are naturally faster information-processors than Millennials are. Generation Z
members communicate through short and instant messages; whereas Millennials find it more comfortable to write long and detailed texts and e-mails.
Although Millennials try hard and want to keep up with Generation Z, it is quite obvious that Generation Z,
with all their technological skills and awareness of the world’s problems, will make major changes on our
planet and create a better and less-troubled world for themselves and future generations.
