Get Us from NY to LA in 45 minutes, Mr. Musk!

Elon Musk is mostly interested in cars, space, and artificial intelligence. Recently he has added mass transit to this long list of interests. Here is what Musk has to say of mass transportation: “I think public transport is painful. It sucks. Why do you want to get on something with a lot of other people, that doesn’t leave where you want it to leave, doesn’t start where you want it to start, and doesn’t end where you want it to end? And it doesn’t go all the time.”

Musk has always liked a challenge so we shouldn’t be surprised he is trying to fix the problem of public transportation. It all started when Musk got stuck in a traffic jam in Los Angeles and he went on twitter to share his anger. He tweeted “Traffic is driving me nuts. I’m going to build a tunnel boring machine and just start digging.” Within an hour, he had a name for the project: “It shall be called ‘The Boring Company’,” he wrote. A few hours later Musk tweeted again: “I am actually going to do this.”

No one took Musk seriously because he always posts amusing statements on social media accounts such as Twitter. But he was clearly not joking this time. He found a better way to travel: Hyperloop! Hyperloop is the future of travel, according to Musk. He claims Hyperloop will be faster than trains, safer than cars and less damaging to the environment than aircraft. So how does it work? It will carry passengers in tubes at supersonic speeds. Thus, it can get people from San Francisco to Los Angeles in less than 30 minutes. The Boring Company started digging tunnels in Los Angeles. Engineers are now working on Hyperloop to make it a reality. Fasten your seat belts and get ready to travel in Hyperloop!
