GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL

Hi, I am Maria. I still can’t get over the fact that I’ve been to Glastonbury! It’s the biggest open air music festival in the world.

Pop music festivals have been very popular all over the world since the end of the 1960’s. One of the largest festivals in England is at Glastonbury in June. It has become very famous and attracts the best British bands. This is what Kimberly, my sister, says about the festival: “I have been to Glastonbury for the last three years and I love it! The music is excellent and there is a cool atmosphere.”

The Glastonbury festival usually lasts three days, from Friday to Sunday, and you can buy your ticket at record shops or on the Internet. Many people buy a three-day ticket and stay in tents at the festival campsite.

There is one big problem at the campsite: Keeping clean. There are thousands of people here who haven’t had a shower since they arrived two days ago. It’s impossible. If you want to go to this festival, you just have to accept that you’re going to be dirty.

This was my third year at Glastonbury. Last week I flew 20,000 miles to be there. I have been to other festivals in Australia and Europe, too. I went to the Sonar Festival in Barcelona four years ago – it was brilliant, but I’ve always wanted to come to Glastonbury. It was amazing. Radiohead was the best thing I have ever seen at a festival, and I would like to come next year if I can. Long live Glastonbury!
