Going Green in Hollywood

In Hollywood, it’s the latest trend to be green and drive an environmentallyfriendly car. Cameron Diaz, George Clooney and Brad Pitt have declared that they have all become green. 1) ………………...... However, Darryl Hannah is best known for being a dedicated environmentalist. She is considered to be the most knowledgeable environmentalist Hollywood star. She has been organizing campaigns about environmental issues for a very long time. 

The famous actress has made over forty films and acted with many famous Hollywood stars like Harrison Ford, Tom Hanks and John Malkovich. 2) ………………...... Although she is a very rich and famous star, limousines, mansions, expensive clothes and jewelry mean nothing to her. 3) ………………...... She said that she wanted to save the planet and she knew that it sounded idealistic.

Unlike other Hollywood celebrities, she lives on a remote ranch in the Rockies and grows her own organic fruit and vegetables and looks after rescued animals. Her house is solar-powered and built from recycled stone and wood. It’s built into the side of a mountain so it’s heated and cooled down by the help of earth. 4) ………………...... Unlike her celebrity friends’ houses there’s only one bedroom in her house.

Ironically, she was raised in Chicago where her stepfather was a known prosperous property developer. However, she was introduced to nature at a very early age when she went to a nature survivor camp with her six sisters and one brother. 5) ………………...... She tries to spend time outdoors as much as she can. She has a tepee which she often uses to sleep in during summer months surrounded by different kinds of animals like deer, owls and eagles.

She doesn’t own a private jet like other Hollywood stars. She doesn’t particularly like flying, and she prefers taking the train if she has the chance to. Her only weakness is her love of classic cars, she owns an old 69 Buick Skylark and a Trans Am parked on her ranch. 6) ………………...... These days she drives a truck that runs on bio-diesel. She has a plan of growing sunflowers on her farm so that she will be able to produce her own bio-diesel from the oil that is produced by the plants. Her aim is to be a self-sufficient person.
