Grace: A Letter

Grace: A Letter

Hello John,

How are you? I hope you are well. Things are going well for me these days. School is great and I have a part-time job now. I work in a cafe at weekends. It can be tiring but I really enjoy it. We sell the usual kinds of things; cakes, coffee, tea, milkshakes and sandwiches.

It is funny because lots of people come into the cafe asking for directions. As you know, I am quite bad with directions and usually get lost when I go somewhere new! I always try to help them though. There are lots of museums around the cafe, but some of them are hard to find. This must be why they come in and ask. There are lots of French tourists here so I try to practice my French with them. Sometimes, I can’t remember how to say go straight on or turn left or turn right, I just can’t find the right words, but it comes to me when they have gone!

I will give you directions now for how to get to the cafe next week. I don’t want you to get lost too! From the metro station, turn right and walk to the end of the street. At the traffic lights on the corner, turn left and go straight on. Walk past the bank and then turn down the narrow street on your right. It’s on your left, between a bookshop and a clothes shop. It’s called ‘Le Pain’. See you next week. You have my number so you can call me if you get lost.

Lots of love,

Grace
