GRANDMA’S OLD BIKE

GRANDMA’S OLD BIKE

Karen and Tim were staying at their grandma’s house for the weekend. While they were looking at some old photos, they found a photo of a teenage girl with a fantastic new bike. “Who’s that boy, Grandma?” asked Karen. Grandma put on her glasses and looked at the photo. “That’s me over fourty years ago,” she said. “I really loved that bike. It’s in my shed, but it’s old and broken now.”

Grandma went shopping. While she was out, Tim had an idea. He wanted to mend the bike for his grandma. Karen and Tim ran to the shed and looked around. “Look!” said Karen and pointed to an old bike. It was really a great bike but needed to be fixed.

Karen found some tools in the drawer and they mended the wheel. They cleaned and polished the bike, so it looked new again. They worked very quickly because they didn’t have much time. Then they heard a voice outside. Grandma was back from the shops. She saw Karen and walked to the shed.

Karen and Tim went showed grandpa the bike. He was amazed and very happy. “That’s my old bike” he said. “But it looks new and shiny.” “Yes, we mended it,” said Tim.

Grandma was very pleased and excited. She wanted to ride the bike together with her grandchildren.

Karen and Tim were very happy. They all rode their bikes to the park and had a wonderful picnic in the sunshine.
