Hello from Alaska
My name’s John Silver and I’m your new e-pal. I’m 22 years old and I’m studying architecture at Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska. I live in a one-bedroom apartment near the centre of the city. Many of my friends come from different countries. You see, lots of people of different nationalities live in Anchorage like Koreans, Filipinos, Chinese, Native Americans and Inuits. It’s very cold in Alaska. The winter lasts nine months, there’s a lot of snow and four hours of daylight! Today, it’s -30 Fahrenheit! Alaska is nice in the spring when the ice melts. I sometimes go fishing with my grandfather. He’s a native Inuit and he knows everything about fishing. After all, it’s the “sport of sports” here! What sports do you like? Lots of people think Alaska is a boring place but that’s not true. There are many lively cafés and restaurants in my area. What are the restaurants like in your country? That’s all for now.
E-mail me when you can.
Take care,
John
