Herbivore, carnivore or omnivore?

All living things need energy. Animals get their energy from food and have different eating habits. They are herbivores, carnivores, or omnivores. Carnivores are animals that only eat meat. They are predators. Predators are hunters, and the animals they eat are called prey. They have sharp teeth called fangs, sharp claws, and their eyes are placed towards the front of their heads. This is called binocular vision. Carnivores have excellent depth perception, and it helps them catch prey better. Lions, tigers, wolves, dogs and vultures are some examples. Herbivores (prey animals) are animals that only eat plants. They can digest most kinds of leaves and grass. They get all their fibre and nutrients from plants. They usually have wide, flat teeth, and their eyes are on the sides of their heads. This lets them see from many different angles. Herbivores can easily see if a predator is going to attack them, so they can escape. Horses, cows, sheep and deer are herbivores. Omnivores are animals that can eat both plants and meat. However, they usually do not eat grass. Instead, they eat plants like berries, fruit and other vegetables. Omnivores have got both sharp teeth and flat teeth to help them chew meat. Bears, humans, foxes and dogs are omnivores.
