Hollywood and Bollywood are well known silver screens. Hollywood is recognised worldwide and Bollywood is well known among eastern nations and has been picking up prevalence in numerous western nations such as the US. They are two completely different cinemas that cater to different audiences and hence cannot properly be compared. However, they do have many differences between them:

Technical Perfection

In recent years, Bollywood has become more advanced than before, but no one can surpass the level of technical support Hollywood provides to its cinema. The kind of special effects used in movies like the Avengers, Independence Day, War of the Worlds and World War Z are out of this world. They make the audience jump from their seats. Bollywood is yet to give us a marvel like that.

Variety of Subjects

Hollywood movies are made on a wide range of subjects including fiction, action, horror, science, comedy, romance, drama etc. This is not the case with Bollywood movies. Most of the Bollywood themes are the same old melodrama, romance and family-based stuff.

The Length of Movies

In Bollywood, movies typically have a three-hour length, although things are not the same anymore with the movie time trimmed down to one and a half hours in the latest films. Also, they usually have an intermission. Hollywood movies, on the other hand, are not more than three hours.

Revenue

Hollywood movie producers earn millions and billions with just one movie becoming a hit worldwide. However, this is not the case with Bollywood movie makers. They still follow the same old distribution system and have less access to the global theatre. On the contrary, the Hollywood movie producers have smarter networks and their movies are released on a large scale, giving them huge amounts of money when compared to the Bollywood movies.

Global Reach

Hollywood has a wider reach in terms of the global audience. Bollywood is still in the initial stages of making its presence felt the world over. With the changes in scriptwriting and cinematographic style, a change has been witnessed in the audience for Bollywood movies. It has caused a deep impact on audiences throughout East Asia with movies such as 3 Idiots. Hollywood action is now becoming redundant, and people globally want to see family-oriented stories like the ones produced by Bollywood.
