Hope for the Gorillas

In 2007, a new home was built for gorillas in London with the help of The Zoological Society of London (ZSL). The organization’s mission is to breed endangered gorillas species and prevent these animals from becoming extinct.

The enclosure is called Gorilla Kingdom. It looks like a gorilla’s natural habitat with its waterfalls, rocks, hills, plants and birds. Today, Gorilla Kingdom is a home to four gorillas.

Loss of habitat became the main threat to gorillas in the wild. The new enclosure that ZSL built holds the hopes to make gorillas feel safe and happy. One of the female gorillas is having her first baby soon. It is great news because it is the first step to increase the gorilla population.
