HOW DO AMERICANS SPEND THEIR LEISURE TIME?

Every day, millions of Americans enjoy their free time from the comfort of their sofas or armchairs. 40% of Americans always or often watch television while eating dinner.

At least one in four people eats some type of fast food every day. 20% of American meals are consumed in the car. Young adults, aged 18 to 29, enjoy eating fast food more often.

Americans are now going to the movies less often. 66% of people go to theatres five times a year. 

43% of adults go to concerts at least once a year. Country and rock concerts are often the most popular ones.

45% of Americans enjoy outdoor activities at least twice a week. They usually fish, camp, and hike the mountain trails.

When Americans travel abroad, they don’t tend to go far. 21% of these holidays are generally in Mexico and 12% in Canada.

Coffee shops are popular places to socialise with friends. Over 50% of Americans drink at least one cup of coffee a day. America spends $40 billion on coffee per year!
