How the Interviewer Sees It
For a job interview, people usually talk about it from the perspective of the interviewee. However, have you ever wondered how the interviewer feels or what he or she thinks during an interview?
I worked for a company for 20 years, and for 5 years, I was in charge of recruiting the right people for various jobs in the company. To me, it was fascinating to see that many of the job applicants never thought of trying to figure out what was going on in my head during the interview. They were always stuck in their fear of not being able to get the job.
The company that I used to work for required socially savvy people because most of its jobs needed social interaction with all kinds of customers. To me, it was very important to see an applicant who quickly adapted to the new atmosphere of the room and wasn’t shocked by unexpected questions.
Most people are given typical pieces of advice like ‘Dress well’ or ‘Be on time’. However, they forget that the interviewer is a smart person as well and can quickly read the interviewee’s mind.
