How to Avouid Impulse Buying
During a recession, people are always looking for ways to save money. However, while customers are trying to cut back, big chain stores and retailers are persuading us in with their neverending discounts and bargain prices. We often think we are saving money, but are we? Shopping on impulse just because it’s cheaper isn’t always beneficial.
According to a recent survey, people in Britain spend more than £1 billion a year on impulse buys. People often splash out on products because it makes them feel happy. However, wouldn’t it be better to save up and indulge yourself when you really want to? Here are some ideas I’ve come up with to help you avoid impulse shopping.
1. Only buy the amount you need
Have you ever been shopping online and noticed that you only need to spend a little more to get free postage? Spending more to get something for nothing sometimes isn’t worth it. Instead of buying items separately, you can take advantage of these deals when you really do need to buy a few items together.
2. Shop around for an item before you purchase
Always do some research before you buy something and check reviews. You will avoid any unexpected surprises and you might find that the most expensive or the cheapest item aren’t always the best option.
3. Don’t spend more just to get something free
Buying products in bulk can sometimes be better value, but it isn’t always the case. Only go for these multi buy deals if you know you are going to use it all.
