How to choose what to play
If you want to play an instrument but you're not sure which one to choose, here is some criteria to help you decide.
There are lots of musical instruments, but not all instruments are appropriate for all types of music. Some of them are better for certain types of music. For example, when someone talks about the saxophone, jazz comes to mind. So, first think about what kind of music you like, so you can find the instruments that are right for your favorite music style. The second thing is to decide if you want to play alone or in a group. If you want to play alone, you can choose a solo instrument like the trumpet, flute, violin, or guitar. If you want to play rock music, there will be other players with you as a group because rock music needs bass players and drummers. If you want to be in an orchestra, you can play the bassoon because every orchestra needs one.
The third thing to have in mind is the place you practice. If you live in a flat, you must consider your neighbors. There are electric versions of instruments. You can choose them and practice at night with headphones while the people in the house or in the apartment are sleeping. You may also practice in the school or music centers.
The fourth thing is the price. Lots of instruments can be found sold at diĀerent qualities and price ranges. However, some instruments like pianos are usually expensive. So, you should
arrange your budget to buy an instrument or find a place to borrow one.
The last thing to consider is the instrument that makes you happy while you are playing.
