How to Escape from Dangerous Forest Animals

Forests are great places to relax and have fun but there are also some potential dangers. You might come across a snake that follows you and it may try to bite you. How can you get away from it or how can you treat its bite? Or an angry ostrich might chase you. Do you know what to do in such a situation? You may see wolves, bears, snakes and much more by chance and you should know your options well. Is the safest way to run away, slow down, fight back or play dead? Here are some suggestions for you.

If you see a snake, you should back away slowly. Change your direction slowly and carefully and then walk away. If it looks like it is following you, be courageous enough and stamp your feet on the ground to make a vibration. The snake will be afraid and escape. 80% of snake bites occur when someone tries to capture a snake so never ever try to capture or trap a snake. When attacked, call emergency services immediately and then wash the bitten area with soap and water as soon as possible. Sucking or squeezing the venom is only for the films and it will not help you. Actually it may make your situation worse. Try to remember what the snake looked like, and, if possible, be able to identify the snake. This will be helpful for the hospital.

When you are near ostriches, you should always be prepared to run to a safe place because there’s no way you can outrun an ostrich over any distance. If you are lucky, you can reach a safe place as quick as possible before the ostrich catches you. To keep safe, run to a building, a car, or a high fence or tree that you can climb because ostriches can't fly. If you can't make it to safety, grab a long pole and hold it in front of you. Then put it between you and the ostrich to keep the animal away. If you cannot do any of those, simply play dead. When you are doing this, keep your head protected. Since ostriches kick forward and downward, the chance of injury is much lower if you lie face down on the ground and cover your head and neck with your arms.
