How to Recycle
Danny: We have to put the rubbish in the bins. Paper, cardboard, tins and glass are all recycled, so they go in the blue bin.
Ted: What about plastic?
Danny: Plastic is recycled too, but only bottles and pots.
Ted: What are the green bins for?
Danny: Food waste. And the green bag is for garden waste. Food and garden waste are composted. And anything that isn’t recycled goes in the black bin. Plastic carrier bags or crisp packets—stuff like that.
Ted: Is the rubbish collected every week?
Danny: Well, one week, the blue and the green bins are collected, and the next week, the black bin. By the way, thanks for helping. I hate sorting rubbish!
Ted: Yes, but recycling is good for the environment. It saves energy and reduces pollution. How long have you been doing it? How did you start it?
Danny: Two years ago, when I was an exchange student in England, the family that I was staying with recycled their rubbish. I told my parents about it, and we decided to do it.
Ted: That’s so cool. I’ll also talk to my parents so that we start doing it, too.
Danny: Hey, did you know that some fleece jumpers are made from recycled plastic bottles?
Tom: Yuck! Now I understand why my fleece smells funny!
