How to Speak Cat

When cats meow at us what are they really saying? Meows are the way that cats ask humans for things like, 'Can I go out?' or 'Can you feed me, please?' A cat's purr has been described as a feline smile, and cats purr in the presence of other pets and humans. Purrs often express happiness. However, cats not only purr when they're happy, but also when they're injured or sick. It's a sign that they want you to stay nearby. Cats hiss when they are scared and growl when they are going to attack.

Cats can also communicate by using their body language. Confident cats face forward, while fearful cats stand sideways with arched backs to look larger than they really are and hold their ears sideways like airplane wings.

Cats' tails help us to recognize what they are feeling.

Cat stares indicate a challenge. But a slow eye-blink to other cats or people signals there is no threat and is known as a "kitty kiss" when aimed at people. Also, when they rub against your legs, it's not because they want food or attention. It's basically just their way of saying 'I missed you. How are you?'
