If I Were…

Sometimes life becomes so difficult that you want to go back to your past. We asked our viewers to send us their stories. Here are two people who said what they would do if they were younger again.

Jake: ‘A lot of the changes in my life happened when I was 16 years old. My father died, and my mother and I had to work to support our family. I left school to work full-time. But if I were 16 now, I wouldn’t do it. I’m a successful businessman now, but it took me a long time to get to where I am now. I was poor until I was 35, so I could get married at 40. My children are very young, and I think I don’t understand them sometimes.’

Laura: ‘I met a very nice man when I was 25. I really wanted to marry and start a family with him. At that time, I was full of energy, but I got furious at people over unimportant things. I lost his love and attention because of the awful things I did to him. If I were younger, I would try hard not to be like that. I would do lots of things to have his trust back. I never fell in love or married anyone after he left me, but I think I would be married and happier if I were younger.’
