1 More than 75 years ago the first TV broadcasting started in the United States. Today the TV experience is much more different from what it was the past. Here are some fun facts about TV.
2 The earliest TV advert belonged to Bulova, a watch-making company. It went on-air for the first time on 1st July 1941. The advert was 10 seconds long, and the company paid 9 dollars for the advert.
3 MTV, the most famous music channel, began its programmes on 1st August 1981. It became one of the most popular channels then and changed the way people consumed music. Before MTV, people usually listened to music on the radio. MTV made music videos popular. The first music video on MTV was ‘Video Killed the Radio Star’ by the Buggles.
4 Betty White has spent the longest time on TV. She has made programmes since 1949! A lot of actors and TV personalities rise and fall in popularity, but this hasn’t happened a lot to Betty White.
5 The first national broadcast in colour happened on 1st January 1954. Before that time TVs showed only in black and white, but after that colour TVs slowly became cheaper and more popular across the United States and the world.
