Interview with Jamie
Journalist: Hello, Jamie. I’m interested in what teenagers think about the lifestyles of the future. How do you think people will live twenty years from now?
Jamie: I think they will travel more. People won’t live in one town for twenty or thirty years like they do now. They will also eat food from all around the world and do lots of activities.
Journalist: What do you mean by activities?
Jamie: Especially sports like canoeing, trekking, geocaching and caving.
Journalist: Have you ever tried one?
Jamie: Not yet, but I’m going to try them all. Next year, I’m going to an adventure camp so I’ll have the chance to try them all.
Journalist: And what about work? You are interested in journalism. What are you going to be when you leave school?
Jamie: I’m not going to be a journalist because I don’t think there will be any printed newspapers in the future. I think we will get the news by e-mail every morning.
Journalist: Oh! So you think newspapers will disappear in twenty years’ time?
Jamie: No, they won’t disappear in twenty years, but probably in fifty or sixty years’ time. There is no future there. I am going to be an engineer in a computer company. There will always be computers in our lives.
