INTERVIEW WITH JASON'S GRANDFATHER

INTERVIEW WITH JASON'S GRANDFATHER

Jason’s grandfather Bill is 100 today. Jason interviews him for the school magazine.
Jason : Grandpa, I believe life is very different today than a hundred years ago, isn’t it? What was it like then?
Bill : Yes, it is very different. Life was much quieter then. There are so many cars now. There weren’t so many cars when I was a boy. It was difficult to buy a car because they were very expensive.
Jason : So, I believe there was no air pollution and there were more trees.
Bill : Yes, there were even fruits on the trees in our street. My favourite ones were the fig trees. Figs on them were very delicious!
Jason : Were there many restaurants and cafes in your neighbourhood?
Bill : There were no cafes and only two restaurants. Those restaurants were only open on some days.
Jason : Were you happy as a child?
Bill : Oh yes, I was very happy, but I’m still happy now!
Jason : Tell me about your family.
Bill : Well, my father was a postman and my mother was a cook. We weren’t rich, but we weren’t poor either. There were five children. My brothers and sisters were all younger than me, but I’m the only one still here.
