IS THE WIND ENERGY AS INNOCENT AS WE ARE TOLD?

The wind is a clean, free, and convenient energy source. All around the world, wind turbines turn with the wind’s power and convert it into electricity. This source of power generation plays a very important role in the way we power our world.

Good news is, wind energy has many advantages. For example:

• It only requires wind to work and is considered to be a green source of energy.

• It is a renewable resource with great potential. Wind power is accessible and affordable and can be used in houses and offices. Farmers can also rent their property for wind farms and still continue working in the farm the land.

Bad news is, it also has some disadvantages that we cannot just ignore. For example:

• Wind energy is not reliable. It is a wavering source of energy.

• Electricity from wind energy must be stored in batteries which are harmful for the environment.

• Wind turbines are a huge threat to wildlife such as birds and bats.

• Some farmers cut down trees to create space for wind farms which causes deforestation.

• Wind farms make too much noise.

• Some people think wind farms are not nice to look at.
