It is My Birthday
I have a lot of friends and a very big family. Birthday parties are a lot of fun, but it is always very expensive to invite everyone I love. The minimum number of people I can invite to a party is 20. I have seven brothers. I also have three best friends from school, plus four great friends from my basketball team. My neighbour is like my brother, so I have to invite him, too. Add my grandparents and my aunts and uncles to that list, and they are now much more than 20.
It costs at least $15 to pay for food for each person; plus, paper plates, cups, utensils and decorations add another $5 per person at least. So, let’s say it’s 20 people multiplied by $20. That means a party costs $400 minimum! Yes, I get a lot of presents, too. Some people give money, which helps pay for the party, but that all comes at the end of the party. I have to pay for it first.
How did my parents do it when I was a kid? They had eight children! That’s one party every 45 days on average! Actually, three of my brothers were born in January, so they had one huge party on January 1st every year. That is like four parties in one when you add the New Year’s party. I should say thank you to my parents for all the things they did for me when I was a kid.
