Japanese Primary School Students
My name is Masahiro. I'm Japanese, I come from Tokyo. I'm a primary school student. I'm in 6th grade. I like school a lot. My favorite subject is English. I have two English teachers. One is my normal class teacher Ms Wakako. The other is Mr John. He is Australian. He's fun. We study English with Mr John three times a week.
Today I want to tell you about two things that are special about Japanese school: school dinners and cleaning.
In Japanese schools, we all eat the same thing. At the start of lunchtime, some students have to go to the kitchen and collect all the food for the class. My friend Yumi has to set the tables in the classroom. Hiro and Kento have to serve us the food. Then we always sit in a circle and eat together. After we eat, some students have to take the food and the tables away. My job is to give everybody milk.
After we eat, we have to clean the school. We all have to do different jobs. My friend Ai has to sweep the corridors, Mari has to tidy the bookshelves, and Yoshiko and Sawa have to clean the windows. Three times a week I have to clean the blackboard and twice a week I have to clean the classroom floor. We don't play until we are finished. After we clean the school, we go outside to play.
What about you? What do you have to do at school?
