Jet Lag

Andrew is a master’s student. He is studying in the United States. Last year, he was writing his thesis and wanted to go to Turkey for research. His passport was ready. He had bought his tickets months ago and finally got his visa. He reached the airport with excitement. The United States and Turkey are in different time zones. Turkey is 8 hours ahead of The United States. He got on the plane and read a book about his research and rested. He reached Istanbul at 9 in the evening. He was so sleepy that as soon as he got in his hotel room, he fell asleep. It was 5 in the morning, he woke up, and he was so energetic and so alert. He kept working on his project.

It was only midday but he was so sleepy. He had a terrible headache. He decided to see the doctor. The doctor explained; “You come from a different time zone so your biological clock is imbalanced now and this is called jet lag”. His body wanted to sleep and wake up according to the time in the United States. The result was he would sleep in the morning and he was awake at night.
