Jobs to Die for
Shelly Sallee (skydiving instructor)
“I have a job with an incredible view. It’s high-speed and full of fun,” says Shelly, an instructor for Front Range Skydivers in California and an examiner for the US Parachute Association. “Every time I jump, I get another adrenaline rush. After 2.500 jumps, it’s still an exciting experience.” but her real thrill is for her students. “I love seeing a student on their first jump all nervous and excited beforehand. Later, they learn to turn and fly forward.” “I have the most thrilling job in the world,” says Shelly.
Sheila Osburn (emergency medical technician)
“Every day is different and it doesn’t feel like a job. I enjoy it so much,” she says. When someone calls an ambulance, Sheila is there to help with everything from moving an elderly patient from the hospital to a nursing home, to helping a child hurt and scared on the playground. “I put my heart and soul into this job,” Shelia says.
Greg Marshall (potter)
“I have a great job. I get to play in the mud every day. Who could ask for more?” says Greg. He was an education major in college when one semester he took a pottery class. It was there that he discovered his heavenly handicraft. Greg now specializes in functional pottery: mugs, bowls and plates. He says, “Everything I make I feel like there’s a part of me in it. I feel good when other people like it too.”
