Jonathan’s Last Day

Jonathan was a famous baker. He was hard-working and punctual. He would* always get up at three o’clock every night and bake his products. Then he used to have his breakfast with his wife and open his bakery. He would usually have his favourite pear marmalade in his breakfast. He used to have many customers till afternoon. At noon, he used to have lunch in his house. After lunch, he used to leave the bakery to his son and sleep for about two hours. After siesta, he would return to the shop and chat with his favourite customers. He was the only baker in the town for quite a long time, and now he has many friends who shop at his bakery. This was the routine for almost 25 years.

Today his daily routine is not the same. This is his last day in his bakery. He is packing his stuff because he’s retiring tomorrow. He is going to Hawaii with his wife next week. He has already booked his tickets. Starting from tomorrow, his son is taking care of the bakery. He normally used to wear white clothes, but today he’s wearing a Hawaiian shirt. He would always have a siesta after lunch, but today he is having a cup of espresso with his best friend. He’s had a wonderful working life. Now he is ready to start a new life. He wants to see new places. There is a luxury liner company in town, and they send a liner every Sunday to many different exotic places around the world. Tonight, he’s starting his journey from the harbour with his wife. The luxury liner leaves the harbour tonight.
