Kate's Summer Holidays

I love summer! The best thing about it is that I don’t have to get up early. I can also see my friends whenever I want to. I usually go abroad with my parents. We like going to different countries to explore. I like going hiking in Switzerland. The weather is lovely in the summer. It’s not too hot or too cold. The countryside is also fantastic there.

Last summer, we went on two trips. The first one was to Maienfeld, Switzerland. Maienfeld is the town where Heidi (a cartoon character) is from. It’s an old town with beautiful buildings and great trails for hiking. We really felt like we were in a storybook while we were walking around the town. There’s also an amazing view of the Alps at the top of the hike. That was one of my favourite spots. Our second trip was to Biarritz, France which is a small beach town on the west coast of France. This town is very popular for surfing. So my brother and I tried surfing for the first time! It was so much fun but also very difficult. After a couple of days of trying, we finally stood up on our surfboards and were able to surf.

There are so many reasons to love summer and travelling and being with family is definitely on the top of the list!
