KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS
These days, it's hard not to keep up with the Kardashians. They're everywhere. This might get us wondering - who on earth are the Kardashians and Jenners and why are they famous? So, let's start at the very beginning and take a look at the family's beginnings to better understand how they became America's so-called ‘other first family’.
Kris Jenner is, in her own words, the Kardashians’ momager (that’s their mum-and-manager). She runs her own production company, Jenner Communications. She gave up her career as an air hostess and married Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and Rob’s dad Robert Kardashian in 1978. Kris and Robert divorced in 1991. Only a short time after this, Kris married for a second time. This time she married former Olympian, Bruce Jenner. Kris and Bruce have two girls, Kendall and Kylie. They divorced in 2014.
In 2007, Kris Jenner had a contract with E! Channel about ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ (KUWTK). This is a reality TV show about her large and chaotic family. It focuses mainly on sisters Kim, Kourtney, and Khloé Kardashian, as well as their half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner. The significant others of the Kardashian sisters have also appeared on the show.
KUWTK has reached greater success than any other reality TV show. It has been on the air for almost a decade. And it is turning its stars into a globally recognised brand. Members of the family have appeared on the covers of thousands of magazines. They have become the face of various fashion, beauty and health brands. Kim even has her own video game - Kim Kardashian: Hollywood - and an app. This is how they’ve done it. KUWTK has made the Kardashian/Jenner family one of the most famous families in the world!
