Kieron Williamson - An art prodigy

The young watercolour British artist Kieron Williamson, nicknamed ‘Mini Monet’, was born on 4 August 2002. Williamson first began drawing on a family trip to Cornwall in 2008. His first exhibition sold out in 15 minutes and he sold his first piece for £14,000. However, before 2008 he hadn’t enjoyed drawing.

Kieron’s favourite artists are Edward Seago of Norfolk and Alfred Munnings of Suffolk, an outspoken critic of modernism. Kieron does not think abstract painting, which shows an artist’s feelings or thoughts, is art. He likes seeing the picture on the canvas. He is inspired by nature, traditional farming methods and ways of life, big skies and different cultures.

The art prodigy has grown up with the paintings of Norfolk artists on the walls of his house. He always loves visiting the places these artists have painted and enjoys the scenery.

Kieron loves catching up with friends and family, like other boys his age. He also likes doing sport and watching Formula One. Besides, he is a big fan of Leeds United.

Kieron Williamson sees art as his future. He would like to travel the rest of the UK and the world to share the things he will see with the art lovers. He believes that every day is a lesson in art.

Kieron’s family members – his sister, father and mother – all support him a lot. The most important thing for the family is to spend time together. His mother thinks the more the parents know their children and understand them, the more the children make their needs known. They are all busy, but she says she gives half an hour of real quality attention to her children. She believes, this could be the best advice she could offer to other parents who want to have good relations with their children.
